The Eagle Has Landed!!!
So all 16 in the group have landed safely...I promise. We arrived at the airport around 600 and then took a two hour bus ride to Tahara where we met up with our host families. The principal of the junior high will be my host tonight, then tomorrow it will be the assistant principal, and then the rest of the time I will be staying with one of the board of education memembers here in Tahara. The trip over went rather smoothly..other than a slight accident I was involved in on the way to the airport. I have alot of pictures to post but not sure I am going to be able to get them up tonight as I dont know Japanese well enough to find the flash drive on this computer (i also dont know it well enough to ask for a shower..which i need really bad). Looks like tomorrow all of the students will be traveling to school with their host student and then we will be having our opening ceremonies. Im extremely impressed with the group so far, Nathan has done a great job preparing them with their Japanese skills that the people here are almost suprised how well they speak. I am looking forward to getting some pictures up tomorrow. If you have any picture requests please send them to danieltaylorwells@yahoo.com -DTW

Prelim Japan Trip Thoughts
Two days left until we depart it looks as if there is a light at the end of the tunnel as far as my To Do list goes. I will be taking 14 high school kids to Japan to do Home Stay's and then will be bringing 7 of the kids (ninth graders) back home safely. While we will be staying with host families alot of the time we will aslo spend some time staying in a hotel and traveling on the bullet train. I am looking forward to our trip to Hiroshima as well as all of the sushi that I am going to be able to consume. I will posting daily on here with stories and pictures of myself and the kids...I'm definately looking forward to this trip and to be able to brush up on some of my Japanese speaking skills! 2010 SCMS DC Trip!

The SCMS 8th Grade Class took a group of 90 students, parents, and educators to Washington DC this past May. Some highlights of the trip included a trip into the White House where we got to see the President (driving off), a trip up to the top of the Washington Monument, as well as seeing a completely drained reflecting pool. We are already looking forward to next year's trip....might just venture to the Second Capital of the US for that, Philly, PA!
